My Series Picasso gets a Carrot has been awarded a winner in the 12th Annual Julia Margaret Cameron Awards for women photographers.
This series started out as a series of barn light portraits I made for my barn mates in exchange for photographing their horses. The out takes of the horses getting a treat became more interesting to me. Most horses are very food driven so treats and sounds are often used to try to get them to ‘pose’ as they are not like dogs who will sit and stay on command! I love the lips, extreme stretches and curiosity they exhibit.

TORI GAGNE, SERIES MOONLIT DANCE I loved your images and this is why Moonlit Dance III was used as the icon of the category at the top of the page. Shooting horses is such a difficult project! I congratulate you for the approach. Actually are the best horse images I have seen lately (previously I was fan of Jill Greenberg horses –she was a juror a couple of years ago, Everything is beautifully suggested in your work with a great sense of movement while showing the power of the horses at the same time. Congrats! ~Words from Juror Julio Hirsch Hardy
